Unicera smashes previous records

UNICERA, the 22nd international ceramics, bathroom and kitchen fair held in Istanbul, Turkey, last month, attracted a record 53,394 visitors from 70 countries.
This represented a 22 per cent growth over the 2009 event which attracted 38,139 visitors from 64 countries.
The number of overseas visitors rose by 50 per cent to 2,883 from 1,916, while local visitor numbers were also up 40 per cent over the previous year.
Organised by Tuyap Fair and Exhibition Organisation in cooperation with the Turkish Ceramics Federation and Timder (Sanitaryware and Construction Materials Producers Association), the fair was opened in the presence of Turkey’s Minister of Public Works Mustafa Demir, Housing Projects Authority vice-president Ahmet Haluk Karabel, Turkish Ceramics Federation chairperson Zeynep Bodur, Timder chairperson Serdar Dönmez and Tuyap CEO Serdar Yalçın.
The event also included ceramIstanbul, a modern art exhibition organised by Hacettepe University Ceramics and Glass Department faculty member Mutlu Baskaya; and a seminar on sustainable materials held as part of the Architects’ Day.
Unicera 2010 brought together leading ceramic manufacturers and buyers from across the Middle East, Middle Asia and the Balkans.
The next Unicera will be held from May 2 to 6, 2011 at the Tuyap Fair and Convention Centre in Istanbul.
