MORE than 1,000 exhibitors have confirmed participation in Project Qatar 2011, which is poised to open its gates for the eighth consecutive year next month (May 2 to 5) at the Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) in Qatar.
Demand for space at this international trade exhibition for construction technology, building materials, equipment and environmental technology has been such that the event will spread over an additional 30,000-sq-m temporary structure this year, totalling up to 46,000 sq m of exhibition space.
“With Qatar’s economy projected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to grow 18.6 per cent this year, the exhibition is a gateway to numerous opportunities in one of the world’s fastest growing economies that has planned over $100 billon of direct investments toward infrastructure projects in the coming 12 years,” said George Ayache, general manager of IFP Qatar, the organiser for Project Qatar 2011.
“The country’s economy has shown resilience to the global economic crisis and recorded an impressive 13 per cent real GDP growth in 2010. With the country having been awarded Fifa 2022 World Cup hosting rights, international and national business players are keen to tap into the wealth of opportunities that arise out of the numerous projects lined up for the next 12 years.
“The country offers numerous opportunities to businesses in almost all sectors. In line with its National Vision 2030 and also the World Cup, Qatar will witness investments to the tune of billions of dollars for a large number of upcoming infrastructural projects. Project Qatar 2011 is a strong opportunity and a strategic entry point for those keen on tapping into this flourishing economy,” he added.
He said Project Qatar 2011 gives its visitors and exhibitors a chance to gain access to local market dynamics, investors, and niche providers that enhance product offerings, benefit from an opportunity to come face to face with local market players in both the private and public spheres, acquire an in-depth knowledge of planned and current construction projects being carried out in the country while, at the same time, network with the country’s top construction companies and decision-makers and generate new business deals.
The event will also be attended by leading high-ranking Qatari public sector officials who will be able to offer high-power introductions to all the right people and explain the myriad benefits foreign investors enjoy when doing business in Qatar.
Last year’s event had more than 1,000 exhibitors from 39 countries and attracted 30,000 visitors.
