Awareness focus

LATICRETE RAK Company, a joint venture between Laticrete International of the US, and RAK Ceramics of the UAE, will be introducing its latest Hydro Ban waterproofing systems as well as promoting its various tile and stone-fixing systems at The Big 5 Saudi.

The company intends to create greater awareness about Laticrete systems in the market, by introducing it to customers in the region, while meeting existing customers and providing them with support.

Laticrete is a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of installation systems for ceramic tile and stone used in residential, commercial and industrial applications.

“For over 50 years, Laticrete has provided the technology, products and experience to create innovative, permanent installations for tile and stone,” says Sujit Singh, general manager of Laticrete RAK.

“Architecturally specified and professionally endorsed by installers, Laticrete demonstrates a dedication to quality that results in globally proven solutions for virtually every application,” he says.

The company is also the first manufacturer of tile and stone installation materials to earn the Greenguard Environmental Institute’s (GEI) certification, according to Singh.

“Based on criteria used by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Osha and the US Green Building Council’s Leed-CI programme, the Greenguard certification provides assurance that the specified Laticrete systems meet appropriate indoor air quality standards for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde,” says Singh.

Laticrete RAK was set up in 2003 in Ras Al Khaimah, where its factory recently achieved ISO9001. The factory is currently looking at launching new products and introducing innovative technology, besides expanding its new Hydro Ban waterproofing plant. The company also plans to set up additional factories in the other GCC countries.

Singh is happy with the company’s performance last year, adding that business was better than in 2010. He adds that the region’s construction industry – like any other industry – is cyclical in nature, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar currently being the main markets in focus in the GCC.

Laticrete systems have been used in several prestigious projects across the Gulf.

In the UAE, these include the Dubai Metro, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and American Hospital extension in Dubai; and Yas Marina Circuit, Grand Mosque, Hyatt Capital Gate, Rotana at Khalifa Park, Khalidiya Palace, Rotana, Delma Mall, Park Hyatt at Saadiyat Island, St Regis, JW Marriott, and Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort in Abu Dhabi.

Its projects in Kuwait include the Al Hamra Tower while its Qatar poffolio lists the Al Khore and Al Wakrah sports stadiums, 6,000 apartments in Barwa City, Oryx Rotana Hotel, New Doha International Airport (NDIA), Barzan Camp, Qatar National Convention Centre, Barwa Al Saad, Nakhilat Shipyard, Grand Hyatt Hotel, United Tower (The Pearl), Ideal Indian School, and Sidra Medical Research Centre.

In Saudi Arabia, its extensive list of projects include prominent developments such as the Kingdom Tower, Princess Nora University, Ministry of Education facilities, King Abdullah Financial District, King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre, and King Abdul Aziz and King Khalid hospital extension in Riyadh; North Park Building for Saudi Aramco and Ma’aden phosphate plant in Dammam; Dhahran Commission building and Tanajib Dhahran utilities in Dhahran; and King Abdul Aziz University and King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Development Housing in Jeddah.

Laticrete will be present at Stand A19.
