BIM roadshow registers major success

01 April 2012

A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND roadshow conducted by well-known BIM software and hardware providers concludes early this month in Abu Dhabi after a successful tour of four major cities across the GCC.

For the first time in the GCC, three reputable BIM companies, Tekla, Meridian Systems and Trimble have joined forces to conduct the BIM+Build Roadshow themed “Together We Do It All”. They showcased their wide product portfolio encompassing estimating, design and collaboration, project management, asset management, 3D laser scanning, and construction layout solutions – all under one umbrella.

Tahir Sharif, managing director of Tekla ME said: “Joining forces with Meridian Systems and Trimble will be of tremendous value to construction companies. It enables us to provide tailored BIM solutions to meet the needs of each client project. Dependent on the project requirements, customers can select one or a number of BIM tools working together to reduce time, cost and waste on the project.”

The BIM+Build Roadshow tour, which began in Jeddah late last month (March 24) stopped at Riyadh, Doha and Muscat and will conclude in Abu Dhabi on April 3.

A number of prominent BIM experts spoke at the previous events including Michael Turk from Hill International who presented at Doha a case study that demonstrated the benefits of BIM to construction.

Peter Hedlund, regional director, Trimble Export Middle East, represented Meridian Systems at BIM + Build. He said: “With Prolog and Proliance, Meridian Systems seeks to deliver integrated business value to the construction industry. Along with Tekla and Trimble BIM products, we can help construction companies capture and manage project information that in turn will support them in achieving control and transparency in the delivery of projects.”
