Sustainable future

01 October 2012

DEBUTANT participant Protektor of the UK will be unveiling in the Gulf region its new Maxi-Tec range for drywall construction at The Big 5 show.

Originally launched at Bau, a leading international trade fair on architecture, materials and systems held in Munich, Germany in January 2011, the new range shows how ecology, economy and ergonomics can be combined in drywall construction systems.

“Today, sustainable concepts for tomorrow are in greater demand than ever before,” says Chris Mossey, sales director of Protektor. “Following years of engineering development in the field of metal profiles, Protektor has now taken significant steps forward. The invention of state-of-the-art manufacturing technology based on cutting and shaping processes has enabled the production of metal drywall profiles without producing waste material.”

He says Maxi-Tec represents “probably the most exciting development in dry wall manufacturing technology for the last 30 years”.

“The sustainable specification market really needs solutions within drywall construction, not just in the board and finishing areas, but more importantly within the steel frame construction itself. Maxi-Tec is one of a kind; there’s nothing like it and we hope that specifiers, local government and the Green Conference at The Big 5 show in Dubai consider its use in future projects and developments,” adds Mossey.

When compared to traditional drywall products, the new Maxi-Tec products use fewer raw materials in the manufacturing process, which in turn means reduced energy consumption and less carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. It weighs less than standard products, which ensures a significant reduction in the energy input required for installation – a big benefit in respect of transportation and in ergonomic terms, he points out.

“Protektor’s innovative technology, pioneering product design and efficient production processes guarantee that Maxi-Tec is an economic choice. In addition, Maxi-Tec systems meet or exceed the product and system requirements according to EN and DIN standards in terms of stability/structural strength, fire and sound insulation. Test certificates from internationally accredited institutes are available,” states Mossey.

Protektor, one of Europe’s leading brands, has been established for over 100 years. In addition to Maxi-Tec, it manufactures other profiles in galvanised steel, stainless steel and aluminium for a variety of applications. Its range, which includes more than 2,000 products, probably represents the most comprehensive ranges of plastering, rendering and dry lining associated products available to the finishing industry in Europe.

Protektor works with major companies across the design, engineering and construction sectors internationally with key strategic alliances with system designers and 35 international distribution outlets. Its ISO 9001 quality control systems ensure that its range of products continue to conform to specification and its customers expectation.

Export markets such as the Middle East have seen both ‘Protektor’ and ‘Cornercare’ branded profiles and expanded metals working together in extremely competitive environments, he says.

“Architects, consultants, main contractors and contractors have specified and used our products during the last 30 years on a host of projects and construction sites and appreciate the peace of mind that comes with specifying a quality product.

“With regular exports into the Middle East we have shown ourselves to be supportive of distribution and understand our customer requirements in a very competitive area without compromising quality,” says Mossey.

Protektor can be visited at Stand E71, Hall 2, at The Big 5 show.
