ACCIAIERIE Valbruna of Italy, which will be exhibiting at The Big 5 through its fully owned subsidiary, Valbruna Gulf, will be putting the spotlight on its corrosion-resistant rebar and special alloys at the show.
Valbruna Gulf, which supplies stainless steel, nickel alloys and titanium long products manufactured by its parent company, will be showcasing Reval stainless steel reinforcement bar at the show, says its managing director Hussein El Agroudy.
It will also be introducing special alloy products for the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors of the region at The Big 5.
Reval is a corrosion-resistant stainless steel rebar that provides protection and prevention against corrosion from chloride attack on roads, bridges and other constructions. Its features include durability, low life cycle costs, high ductility and toughness, says a company spokesman.
Valbruna Gulf was set up in 2004 in the Jebel Ali Free Zone of Dubai, UAE, to enhance the reach of Acciaierie Valbruna in the Middle East, North African and Indian regions.
“Ever since its inception, Valbruna Gulf has been quite successful in adapting itself to the requirements of the region, acting as a partner with clients to ensure the successful completion of projects. It has diversified itself into a multifunctional company with its own internal divisions and branches across the Gulf to serve the region in a proficient manner,” says the company spokesman.
The company had a fairly good business performance last year and was encouraged to participate again in The Big 5 show this year based on the demand in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) market, says El Agroudy.
He sees the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and India as its main markets.
The medium-scale company with 15 employees has a full-fledged warehouse covering an area of 4,000 sq m in Dubai, where various stainless steel long products are stocked. Valbruna has also opened new offices in Qatar and India to extend its reach.
Founded in 1925 by Ernesto Gresele, Acciaierie Valbruna began production of special steel in 1939, constantly upgrading its systems and technology in keeping with the philosophy that quality must prevail over quantity in the finished product. It has more than 1,500 employees and produces more than 170,000 tonnes of special high quality steels. Production is currently carried out in two factories, one in Vicenza and the other in Bolzano.
Valbruna’s wide portfolio of products includes valve steels, stainless steels, tool steels, nickel alloys, iron-silicon alloys, titanium and titanium alloys, and constructional steels. Apart from Reval, the company also offers a range of other special products such as:
• Pump shafts;
• Threaded bar including materials suitable for the fastener and concrete industry;
• Power generation, which includes products available in rounds, flats and billets for blades and fastener applications;
• Marinox boat shafts, austenitic stainless steel used for the production of tail shafts in the shipping yards;
• Magival, which is a group of easily workable ferritic stainless steels developed for magnetic applications produced entirely by Valbruna in Vicenza;
• Gun products;
• Maxival, a technically advanced new steel created by the research departments of Valbruna, which offers a high machinability standard without penalising mechanical properties and the resistance to corrosion; and
• Aerospace products.
Valbruna Gulf can be visited at Stand 5A, Hall 224, at The Big 5 show.
