Sharjah to get sewage system boost

Sharjah: Sharjah will have the capacity to treat 139,300 cu m of sewage per day following the completion of Phase Six of the Sharjah sewerage project, according to reports.

This phase, under way at a cost of Dh95 million ($25.9 million), will be completed next year, said TR Starkie, head of the drainage section at Sharjah Municipality. He explained that when the project is completed, Sharjah city will have a full sewage system.

In addition to Sharjah City, the project also includes Khor Fakkan, Kalba, Bidea and Dhaid in the coastal, eastern and central regions of the UAE.

The current phase targets commercial and residential areas as well as part of the industrial areas in Sharjah.

Municipality figures released

Dubai: Dubai Municipality approved 3,367 applications for building licences during the third quarter of last year, according to reports.

The municipality recorded the construction of 563 buildings in various areas in Dubai in the same period. Of these, 299 buildings were in Deira, 251 in Bur Dubai, and 13 in rural areas.

Al Quoz Park designs completed

Dubai: The designs have been completed on the proposed Al Quoz Neighbourhood Park in Dubai and work should begin within the next two months, officials have said.

The two-hectare park will have four playgrounds and an amphitheatre, a Dubai Municipality official said. A section for sports such as football, basketball and volleyball is also planned.

Al Hamad wins Dubai Marina deal

Dubai: Fardan Ali Fardan Real Estate has awarded the contract to build the Al Fardan Tower at the Dubai Marina to the local Al Hamad Contracting.

The residential tower includes 438 flats, which are currently on sale. The project will be completed by mid-2005 at a cost of Dh195 million ($53 million).

The tower comprises 32 storeys and includes six swimming pools, gymnasiums and tennis courts and three squash courts.

Al Muhairy builds complex on Palm

Dubai: The Al Muhairy Group, the owning company of Al Muhairy Centre, has recently launched the Al Dabas Residential Complex in Dubai. The complex, located on the trunk of The Palm Jumeirah, comprises one, two, three and four-bedroom duplex penthouse with deluxe finishing.

The construction and infrastructure work on the 12-storey complex will begin in September and the project will be completed by December 2005.

Tenders invited for new interchange

Dubai: Dubai Municipality has invited tenders for a multi-million-dirham project to replace Al-Manara Interchange on Sheikh Zayed Road with a network of new flyovers and additional lanes to ensure a smooth traffic flow in the area.

The project covers the rebuilding of Interchange Three at its current location, including a full cloverleaf with all but one of the loops accommodating one lane.

The interchange also includes construction of a two-lane directional ramp located to the south of the interchange to provide direct access to Al Quoz industrial area, a fifth lane in both directions of Sheikh Zayed Road and the widening and improvement of the service road on both sides between Interchanges Two and Four.

The tenders will be opened this month and works will commence by the month-end.

LG supplies The Meadows

Dubai: Korean major, LG Electronics, has won a $2.7 million (Dh10 million) contract to supply commercial air-conditioning units for 'The Meadows', one of the largest Emaar developments.

"This is yet another major contract win for us and cements LG's position as a major player in the regional commercial air-conditioner sector," said P C Choi, president, LG Electronics Gulf FZE (LGEGF).

LG's cutting-edge air-conditioners feature state-of-the-art microprocessor control, digital thermostat and external static pressure control motor as standard on standard models.

Emaar's order for 'The Meadows' consists of more than 4,500 sets of air-conditioning units ranging from 1.5 tonnes to 5 tonnes capacity.

'The Meadows' is Emaar's development next to Emirates Hills. It comprises a range of three to seven-bedroom double-storey villas with built-up areas from 3,089 sq ft to 6,419 sq ft.

The Springs to get Ariston heaters

Abu Dhabi: The Paul Weil Company, agent for Ariston water heaters, will be supplying The Springs project with three different models of its Super Glass Royal (SGR) line of water heaters.

The Springs is an exclusive community of town houses set in a picturesque surrounding of lush landscaping and tranquil waterways. Owned by Emaar Properties, it is located on Sheikh Zayed Road.

"We are pleased that the Ariston brand has been selected for this prestigious project," said Robert Pearce, general manager, Paul Weil Company, Dubai.

He recently concluded the deal with The Springs contractor Engineering Contracting Company which involves supplying the community of 1,370 villas with 4,909 units of the Ariston SGR water heaters.
