DLC masterplan fine-tuned

The first user consultative group meeting held by Dubai Logistics City (DLC) – the first phase of the planned Jebel Ali Airport City project – has taken place with representatives from the emirate’s freight forwarding community providing valuable inputs for the fine tuning of the project’s masterplan.

“These meetings are visible demonstrations of our commitment to work with the customers we will serve to deliver world-class facilities and services,” said Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and chairman of the Emirates Group.
“We are drilling down into the finest detail of our potential customers’ operations to ensure that they can deliver speedy, cost-effective and best-of-breed services to their own clientele.
“This valuable input adds to the already extensive industry knowledge of DLC management and ensures that every possible business eventuality is considered and results in logical operational solutions,” he said.
The group focussed on recommendations for the shared forwarders warehouses element within DLC, a key component of the world’s first truly integrated logistics platform.
“Feedback impacted the design and operation of loading docks and operational access and this advice has now been passed on to the architects for design adaptation,” added Sheikh Ahmed.
Shared forwarders’ warehouses, designed as freight handling and storage facilities for small organisations or those focussed on airfreight/multi-modal trade, are a key facility being offered at DLC, which will be operational in 2007.
