DUCAB has won a contract to supply low-voltage (LV) wires and power cables for the Al Raha Beach development project in Abu Dhabi.






DUCAB is setting up a factory for the manufacture of high-voltage (HV) cables in a joint venture with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and the Abu Dhabi Electricity Water Authority (Adwea).






AL AIN Municipality has invited local and international consultancies to submit proposals for the implementation of a three-year environment, health and safety management system (EHSMS) project in Al Ain City.






GERMANY’S Dennert Poraver aims to raise the bar in the tiles adhesives, repair mortars and insulating plaster segments with a lightweight aggregate used their production. Called Poraver, the product has been launched in the UAE through local distributor Dubai-based Taj Al Mulook (TAM).






Mall completes expansionBURJUMAN has completed the construction of 34,000 sq ft of new retail and restaurant space, which includes a redesigned exterior façade and direct main entrance from Khalid Bin Al Walid Street (Bank Street).






STRUCTURAL and exterior cladding work has been completed at The Address, Dubai Mall, with the five-star premium hotel on schedule for opening later this year. Interior fit-out operations of the hotel, serviced apartments and central podium are nearing completion.






TEREX Equipment Middle East has relocated to a bigger facility in Dubai Investment Park (DIP) in a bid to consolidate its presence in the region. The company has also broadened its product portfolio and announced plans to enter the road construction business.






THE Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (Dewa) has award four contracts for the construction of 13 substations worth a total of Dh1.534 billion ($417 million). The contracts were awarded by Dewa CEO and managing director Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer at last month’s Wetex (Water Energy Technology Environment) 2009 exhibition in Dubai.






A CONTRACTOR cramped for space on a mixed-use high-rise project in Sharjah has opted to use a Liebherr luffing jib crane to solve its problems. Beijing Emirates Contracting is building the tower – which will rise more than 130 m high – on a compact site surrounded by high-rise towers within 5 m of the project.






ABU DHABI’S Urban Planning Council (UPC) has approved three masterplans, slated to transform the UAE capital into the sustainable Arab capital and a major international hub.






DUBAI Industrial City (DIC), the emirate’s first dedicated industrial destination is expected to have some 30 factories operational at the 560 million sq ft development by the end of this year. Some 64 showrooms equipped with storage facilities at DIC’s warehouse complex are now ready under the first phase.






SIEMENS Energy has secured a Dh1.7 billion ($462 million) contract for the construction of the Shuweihat II combined cycle power plant with integrated seawater desalination facility in Abu Dhabi.






WATER desalination and wastewater treatment specialist Metito is executing a Dh10 million ($2.72 million) contract for a demineralisation plant in Fujairah. The project combines the expertise of the UAE firm alongside the strength of Alstom Switzerland, a global leader in equipment and services for power.
