Buildex to gather global construction majors

01 January 2013

Buildex 2013 is expected to attract a larger turnout this year thanks to the impetus given to the real estate market by the new mortgage law for Saudi Arabia, according to the organiser of the event.

The 15th in the series of Saudi international building and construction exhibitions, the event is scheduled to take place next month (February 3 to 6) at Dhahran International Exhibition Centre, in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Being the only event of its kind to be staged in the Eastern Province, Buildex is expected to draw a large number of visitors interested in doing business in the region.

“With some 60 per cent of the kingdom’s total GDP generated from business in the Eastern Province, the region is an ideal venue for Buildex,” said Walid Ahmed El Hossieny, project manager. “Attending Buildex ensures immediate access to the kingdom’s key players in the building and construction industry. The show is designed for both decision-makers, and all those in the building and construction sector who are seeking solutions, new technologies and improved materials.”

“Last year we attracted a total of 18,000 visitors but we expect a much larger turnout this year, thanks to the new mortgage law which has boosted interest in the real estate market,” he added.

A total of 125 exhibitors are expected to participate at Buildex 2013, displaying their products and services over an area of 8,300 sq m including 800 sq m of outdoor exhibition space according to El Hosseiny.  About 73 per cent of the exhibitors are from Saudi Arabia, with the remaining coming from Greece, Italy, Germany, India, Dubai (UAE) and Morocco.

Buildex 2013, organised by Dhahran International Exhibitions Company (DIEC), will gather under one roof investors, business development managers, property developers, government officials, architects, building contractors and merchants, building and housing institutes and associations, civil and consulting engineers, land and quantity surveyors, project managers, procurement managers and engineers.

The event will continue to showcase a selection of companies dealing in building machinery and materials, intelligent building, construction technology and tools, earthmoving and heavy construction equipment, lighting, security and safety systems, engineering services, air-conditioning and ventilation systems, glass, doors, marble, granite and ceramics, wood, plastic and composites, tiling, coating and paints, electrical equipment, fire protection systems, interior finishing, plumbing, and insulation products.
