More than 5,000 trade visitors attended Domotex Middle East, the largest carpet and flooring trade fair for Turkey and the Middle East, which was held for the first time in Istanbul, Turkey.
The 2012 edition of the show, featuring 222 Turkish and international exhibitors from the carpet and flooring industry, was held from November 7 to 10 over a 7,771-sq-m area at the Istanbul Expo Centre.
The industry’s leading fair for the Turkish and Middle Eastern markets served as a platform for various solutions – from carpets, textile and resilient floorings, parquet and laminate to natural stones, creative flooring products and innovative application and installation technologies.
Some 21 per cent of the visitors came from overseas, including those from across the Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE and Oman.
“Throughout the four days, 5,099 registered attendees visited Domotex Middle East,” said a spokesman for the organiser. “The exhibitors were able to establish new business contacts with some of them closing deals and many aiming to book larger exhibition spaces for the 2013 show.”
Turkey’s Minister of Economy Zafer Çaglayan, who opened the fair, said: “Turkey is a favourable venue for organising a carpet and flooring trade fair as it has an outstanding role to play in the world economy.”
Driven by the theme “Get the Spirit of Flooring”, Domotex Middle East hosted a diverse visitor profile ranging from wholesalers, retailers, interior designers, architects, industrial designers, planners, investors, real estate developers and hotel purchasing directors. It also included representatives from shopping centres and public organisations who showed remarkable interest in the show. A major draw at the event was the IHIB carpet design awards ceremony.
