AHEC experts highlighted the environmental credentials and market potential of US hardwoods during a seminar at Dubai WoodShow 2013 held in Dubai, UAE.
Hardwoods and softwoods took centre stage at the largest edition ever of the Dubai International Wood and Wood Machinery Show (Dubai WoodShow), the regional landmark event for wood trade and investment, held last month (April 9 to 11) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).
Michael Snow, executive director and Roderick Wiles, director for Africa, Middle East, India and Oceania from the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), the leading international trade association for the American hardwood industry, spoke at a seminar that was centred on the various possibilities of building with wood.
Addressing some of the biggest contractors, importers and specifiers that have a genuine interest in working with wood, Wiles outlined the market potential for American hardwoods in the region.
The seminar focused on topics such as: wood as a building material in the GCC; wood as a design component of architectural projects; the current state of wood use in the GCC; and timber legality.
AHEC’s participation was aimed at leveraging the presence of leading architects, interior designers, furniture manufacturers and importers at the seminar and highlighting the significance and benefits of using American hardwoods.
The eighth edition of Dubai WoodShow featured more than 550 global exhibitors from more than 40 countries. According to Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions, the event organiser, Dubai WoodShow 2013 was 35 per cent bigger than last year’s exhibition.
