MAN Truck and Bus launched a new tractor head at The Big 5 2013. The new MAN TGS WW 6 by 4 tractor head helps in significant fuel saving, said Markus Geyer, senior vice president, head of sales, Middle East and Africa.
Designed exclusively for the Middle East, the tractor head combines traction and long-haul operation with the dynamic MAN Aero kit and the TipMatic system for increased efficiency.
In conjunction with the truck’s strong traction chassis, these features have been designed to achieve off-road applications that cater specifically to the tough road conditions common across the Middle East.
The new system results in lower levels of wear and tear on the driveline and mitigates damage caused by errors of inexperienced drivers.
MAN also presented truck simulation for the visitors. The simulation, housed in a purpose-built MAN Truck used to train drivers, focused on how to operate the company’s heavy-duty trucks under different scenarios.
Commenting on the recent developments within the MAN group, Geyer said: “We have recently set up a used vehicles facility in Jebel Ali. We believe this business is gaining more ground in the region.
“For this year the company is looking at increasing sales and its market share by at least one per cent. Also, to achieve that we believe we have to sell 10 per cent more. We expect the market to grow by 10 per cent.”
