RMD Boards, a division of JRD International, showcased 300 different types of its environment-friendly, fire-retardant decorative wall panels at The Big 5.
Major attractions of its display included glossy finish panels in solid colours.
The company also launched the RMD marble flooring and wall coverings at the event. Other products displayed at the stand included false ceilings, shuttering panels, anti-skid flooring and site fencing.
“We received a stupendous response right from day one,” said Anupam Lunavat, managing director of JRD International. “We were delighted at the response we received from industry professionals – from the construction sector to interior decor firms, architects, consultants, developers, contractors and designers. All were impressed with the quality and finish of our products. More than 2,000 visitors from across the globe, including the GCC, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Spain, Germany and Canada, visited our stand.
“We met with many potential clients who were interested in our products. Project enquiries have been initiated and we are also in the process of finalising business associates and channel partners,” he said.
“The event serves as a very effective B2B trade platform to manufacturers like us. In today’s world, environmental conservation and safety are of prime importance. With these factors in mind, we have been seeking to create awareness among interior decoration and fit-out firms on the need to use more innovative and fire-retardant materials,” said Lunavat.

“The Big 5 is a great platform to help bridge the geographical gap for international suppliers and local buyers and developers. We are proud to have received two international patents and the use of our boards also facilitates obtaining Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits. The event provided us with the opportunity to showcase our boards that find application in a wide range of sectors,” said Sagar Verma, president of RMD Boards.
“RMD wall panel is an innovative plastic composite material created especially with features that no other building or décor material possesses. They help in conserving material and energy resources. The low density of PP (polypropylene), use of petrochemical and refinery by-product for manufacture, low energy required for manufacture and processing of PP and its total recyclability make the product environment-friendly.”
Due to its low weight, energy used in transportation is low. RMD wall panels also have good salvage value as they can be recycled at the end of their life, said Verma. Use of the panels results in lower energy consumption due to low thermal conductivity. Since they substitute forest-based wooden products, they help avoid deforestation.
RMD shuttering panels can be used to replace traditional formwork panels that are derived from wood. They are a lightweight, green option with an almost zero attrition rate, and boasting reusability and ease of stacking, installation and removal that is truly unrivalled. “These panels can be re-used more than 100 times, thus ensuring resource conservation and are made using polypropylene,” said Verma.
Some Dh1.5 billion ($410 million) is committed to realising RMD Board’s global goal by building seven manufacturing plants with 85 production lines in seven countries within the next three to four years.
