Intermat Middle East to host 130 exhibitors

01 January 2014

THE third edition of Intermat Middle East, to be held this month (January 14 to 16) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE, will welcome 130 exhibitors representing 200 brands.

Organisers of Intermat Middle East, the region’s only dedicated exhibition for construction infrastructure projects, hope to consolidate and firmly establish the brand name in Abu Dhabi for the GCC region.

“The third edition will be built upon impressive foundations. Our exhibitor surveys conducted on site found that 88 per cent of exhibiting companies met or exceeded their objectives for participating,” said David Hirst, exhibition director of Intermat Middle East.

“The profile of attendees was particularly pleasing, with 60 per cent sourcing projects starting in the next 12 months. This led to deals being signed and new contacts made for our customers within their exhibition stands.

“At Intermat Middle East 2012 (held from October 8 to 10), 72 per cent of exhibitors had already met or exceeded their ROI (return on investment) targets for participation by the close of the event,” said Hirst.

One of the highlights of the show will be the major buyers programme, which aims to attract around 100 decision-makers from across the GCC region, said Maryvonne Lanoe, exhibition director, Intermat Paris.

“The event will be the exclusive venue for several launches of new, ground-breaking equipment. A number of our exhibitors will be showcasing new excavators, backhoe loaders and mobile cranes. In quarrying, you can also expect to discover some new high-performance products that are adapted to this geographic zone,” she said.

This year, the show will present a focus on concrete and the know-how of the exhibitors, and will include organised educational workshops.

Exhibitors benefited from the support of the UAE Federal Ministry of Public Works and the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs as the foundation partners.

In addition, senior level attendance, strong regional demand, and a dedicated hosted buyer programme from across the Middle East, Africa, and Asian sub-continent, created a new industry platform for the construction industry and specifically infrastructure projects.

In line with visitor demand, the Intermat Middle East team will increase focus on: health and safety products, transport infrastructure, concrete, scaffolding and formwork and general building materials. Visitors and buyers see Intermat Middle East as the region’s ‘pre fit out’ construction event.

The announcement of the World Expo 2020 in Dubai has already fuelled the market with orders for road building, sewerage works, transport and tourist infrastructure, said Lanoe.

“The market for equipment and machinery will naturally benefit from this upward trend.  Consequently, Intermat Middle East 2014, taking place at the start of the year, is the essential place to be for anyone who wants to ‘go shopping’ and plan ahead,” she said.
