French firm to build Bahrain theatre

Architecture Studio of France has been awarded the contract to design Bahrain's first national theatre. The BD3 million ($7.9 million) project is being developed by the Ministry of Information in cooperation with the Ministry of Works and Housing.

The project includes a 750-seat theatre and associated parking and service facilities. Further space for public gatherings and outdoor performances will be provided in the future.
The theatre will be located next to the Bahrain National Museum where the Heritage Village is currently located.
The building will cover an area of 6,000 sq m with a parking area of 9,900-sq m and landscaping/open space area of 1,500 sq m.
