Envac targets the UAE's waste collection market

01 November 2003

Sweden-based Envac, a world leader in providing state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly waste management solutions, has recently opened for business in Dubai. The company focuses on automated waste collection based on vacuum technology.

The technology can be applied in most situations such as residential estates, city centres, airports, commercial buildings, hospitals, and large-scale food preparation facilities. Envac's principle is suitable for both new construction projects and the refurbishment of older residential or commercial districts.

Founded in the 1960's, Envac has brought environmentally-sound waste management systems to many countries throughout Europe and Asia, and has now set sights on the UAE.
The company has successfully installed vacuum waste-collection systems in well-established, and even historic urban centres such as the old quarter of Barcelona in Spain, as well as high density centres such as Tin Shui Wai in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Disney World in Florida, US.

In areas being newly developed, Envac offers its vacuum underground system that can be installed from the start. 'Ideal for dense multi-use developments, these systems improve waste handling, and the select area becomes remarkably cleaner whilst waste removal costs are reduced,' says a spokesman.

Understanding the value of long-term environmental planning, the company maintains strong international relations with leading environmental groups across the globe. Envac fully intends to follow this policy in the Middle East as well. On December 10, Envac is sponsoring a conference entitled 'Visionary Environment: Sustaining the UAE in the 21st Century.'

Several leading environmentalists from Europe and Asia will share case studies and discuss issues surrounding sound environmental practice and examine UAE-specific topics during the one-day seminar.
