Duproof to meet needs for high-quality waterproofing

01 July 2004

Duproof is looking at meeting the needs of the local and regional market with high-quality waterproofing and damp-proofing insulation materials that are produced at its recently commissioned, state-of-the-art factory at the Dubai Investment Park.

The specialist waterproofing and damp-proofing materials manufacturer is currently conducting a study in a bid to target the right markets and sectors for its products.
“Currently, imported waterproofing material dominates the local and regional market. But, by giving high-quality products at competitive prices, Duproof has the potential of playing a lead role in the supply sector. Already, we are negotiating with some leading contracting companies and consultants who have shown interest in using locally produced products,” says a company spokesman.
The Dubai facility – claimed to be one of its kind in the UAE – was completed in June 2003 and commercial production commenced in August the same year.
“Since then, the company has expanded and diversified its range with the help of its fully equipped research and development laboratory for innovative high-quality, cost-effective, future-oriented products,” he says.
Duproof’s factory has a capacity of producing 15 million sq m of waterproofing membranes and 13,500 tonnes of liquid products annually. It caters to the needs of its clients through a wide range of products used in structural engineering applications, not only in the UAE, but are also exported to Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and other GCC countries, says the spokesman.
“At the moment the plant is operating in one shift and it will soon be operating in three shifts. This will increase the output immensely and would pave the way for going to great lengths in a short span of time,” says the spokesman.
The facility manufactures the whole range of waterproofing and damp-proofing materials for different applications: water proofing membranes (torch applied); APP (atactic polypropylene) modified bituminous products (plastomeric); SBS (styrene butadiene styrene) modified waterproofing sheet membrane (elastomeric); APP and SBS modified (plastomeric on the top and elastomeric from bottom); anti-root waterproofing membranes for green roofs; self-adhesive membranes (SBS modified bitumen); water-based bitumen emulsions, cold-applied membrane for damp-proofing and protective coatings; solvent-based bituminous cold-applied membrane for waterproofing damp-proofing; protective coating; bituminous hot applied for mastic, sealant, roof cover, pile protection; and waterproofing membrane with high stresses and impact resistance for bridges and road construction and pipe coatings.
Duproof is aggressively marketing its products under a comprehensive marketing strategy, and has a team of experienced marketing executives, handling the task of product promotion in the UAE, other GCC and Arab countries and also in the other regions of the world.
Also, Duproof has appointed agents in various parts of the world including Thailand, Kuwait, Turkey, Ukraine, the UK, Bahrain, Germany, Switzerland, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Lebanon, and Morocco to make its products available globally.
According to the spokesman, the company maintains highest quality and has approval for its products from various government departments including the Dubai Municipality; Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi; Ministry of Defence; Development Board; Abu Dhabi Municipality; Federal Electricity and Water Authority; Dubai Investment Park; and Nakheel.
Over the years, the company has earned the trust and confidence of its contractors and has worked on projects such as the Sharjah Courts Complex, Health City, Green Community, Dubai TV Studio, Textile City, Embassy Suites, Damas Tower, Dubai Marina (all in Dubai) and a number of high-rise towers at Khaldiya, Abu Dhabi, he adds.
Duproof has also worked with many prestigious clients such as the US Embassy and Recon International, Kabul (both in Afghanistan); Qasim Ahmed Fakhroo and Sons, Bahrain; Al Jassim Al Yusuf and Sons and Al Khonaini Trading Company, (both in Kuwait); Abou Nabil, Muscat and Duproof, UK.
