Following its recent nomination as the winner of the e-business category at the UAE e-Content Awards, Jotun Paints’ Professional’s Network has been entered as a contender for the World Summit Awards (WSA) under the category of best e-business site.
“The site, which won the UAE accolade owing to its quality of content, functionality, navigation, value of graphics and audio, was commended for its strategic importance for the global development of the information society across the region,” says a spokesman.
“Following this commendable achievement, the WSA Grand Jury of experts from 35 countries met in Bahrain from September 3 to 10 to evaluate over 750 products, which were nominated from 168 countries. During the evaluation, the WSA Grand Jury selected the five most outstanding products in each of the eight categories resulting in the 40 WSA Best Contents Products.
“The Jotun Professionals Network won being recognised as one of the world's top five practice examples in e-business, making the website the sole representative from the Middle East that succeeded in the international competition,” he adds.
“We are very proud to be representing the Middle East at the World Summit Awards. This is a tremendous opportunity for Jotun Paints,” says customer relationship manager Rania Kahwaji.
“The Jotun Professionals Network objective is to initiate and maintain one-on-one communication in a cost effective manner. The project was recognised for its out-of-the-box use of e-content to generate and retain customer interest as well as build personal instead of product-based relationships,” Kahwaji adds.
The World Summit Award 2005 covers all aspects and sectors of the emerging information society, putting the added value of multimedia and electronic content for specific user groups at the centre of the competition. It is also unique due to sustained outreach activities in all United Nations member states and its promotion by leading multimedia and internet organisations and institutions.

“The Jotun Professionals Network is a first step towards partnering our customers and moving from being a product provider to a solutions provider. We would like to thank our loyal user base for having made this resource a vibrant professional community tool,” adds Kahwaji.
