THE big, the powerful, the compact and the environment-friendly: The impressive line-up of construction machinery, plant and vehicles will boast these and other key attributes when they take to the stage at The Big 5 PMV (Plant, Machinery and Vehicles) 2010 in The Arena, Sheikh Saeed Halls, at the Dubai World Trade Centre this month (November 22 to 25).
Setting the pace at the show will be the popular JCB Dancing Diggers returning this year with two of its new-generation products that will be launched through its trademark show-stealing performance. Other highlights of this year’s edition include a new live demonstration area and a special workshop that will enable participants to hone their plant and vehicle fleet management skills.
Organised by Streamline Marketing Group, the fourth edition of the PMV strategically runs alongside The Big 5, the largest and most important construction machinery event in the region, and will bring together construction industry professionals, plant engineers, mechanical engineers, consultants, architects and contractors from across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.
The show, dedicated to the construction plant, machinery and vehicles sector, will feature demonstrations of the best-selling equipment from the leading manufacturers. There will also be a competition seeking the winning machinery operator from the leading contractors.
This year, an additional location has been secured to provide exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their products to a live audience outside the exhibition halls and allows key buyers from across the region and overseas to meet face-to-face with leading manufacturers and suppliers and to experience the latest innovations and technology first-hand. This prime location is exclusive to the Big 5 PMV exhibitors to give them the space they need for a demonstration and create a greater impact on their target market, according to the organiser.
Last year, The Big 5 PMV welcomed 12,000 visitors from across the globe and millions of deals were secured at and after the event, where a series of new product launches took place.
JCB, the third largest heavy equipment manufacturer in the world, will use The Big 5 PMV exhibition to showcase two of its new generation of products, and at the same time underline why some of its best operators have become a top international arena attraction.
JCB’s Dancing Diggers is a mechanical dancing troupe famous for dare devil stunts, magic and formation dancing, intermingled with lots of comedy during a 30-minute performance accompanied by music. In the show line-up for the first time will be a new walk-behind roller, the VMD70, one of two new JCB products being launched on the Middle East market. The other is a new eco backhoe loader, the latest version of the original backhoe loader that first rolled off the production line in 1953.
Italian manufacturer MB believes its jaw-action crusher bucket will be as well received by financial controllers as by environmentalists (see page 261). Tipped by industry experts to radically change work methods on construction sites, the product will be given a Middle East launch at The Big 5 PMV.
NFT Cranes of Abu Dhabi will promote some of the most successful cranes and hoists worldwide. The line-up will include the world’s largest self-erecting crane, the Potain IGO T130 (see page 217).
The Imer Group of Italy will showcase its new range of truck-mounted pumps, alongside its comprehensive range of concrete production, transport and laying machinery (see page 241). Idrobase Group, also of Italy, will debut with a range of niche products based on water pressure technology (see page 245).
Best Tyre Protection Sealant will launch three innovative products and look for exclusive distributors at The Big 5 PMV. The Greek company, which manufactures and exports chemical additives for use in heavy-duty vehicles, said in comparison to other construction markets, the Middle East is showing positive signs of recovery.
The show will also host a free industry conference, providing trade professionals with a platform to share best practice, learn about the latest industry developments, and discuss challenges facing the region’s construction industry. Part of the show will be a two-day Plant and Vehicle Management Best Practice Workshop, covering key areas of fleet management, including calculating the extent that plant, machinery and vehicles are used as well as the most economical time to bring in replacements, preventative maintenance, recording failures, and downtime costs when a vehicle is out of action.
The event has already attracted exhibitors from Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The Korean Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (Kocema) has recently confirmed their support for the event.
For the first time, visitors will be able to travel to The Big 5 PMV via the Dubai Metro, with the Dubai World Trade Centre metro station conveniently located adjacent to the Big 5 PMV venue.
