Work nears end on 18 projects
The UAE Ministry of Public Works and Housing is completing the construction of 18 projects at an estimated cost of Dh616 million ($167.72 million), a report said.
The report issued by the ministry, said that the Projects Department was also finalising nine major projects for the Ministry of Health at a total cost of Dh130 million. These involve the construction of a new blood bank in Sharjah costing Dh8 million and replacing health-care centres in Sharjah's Al Khan district, Ajman's Al Manama district, Al Jazeerah Al Hamrah in Ras Al Khaimah, in Al Badiah area in Al Fujairah and in Al Salama in Umm Al Quwain at a cost of Dh4 million each.
A dental centre will be built in Al Daffan in Ras Al Khaimah at a cost of Dh6.35 million and the construction of Kalba Hospital in Sharjah will be completed at a cost of Dh90 million.
The ministry is also completing three big projects for the Ministry of Communication. These include building the Adhen-Al Twaeen-Dibba road at a cost of Dh142 million and improving 13 roads, bridges and link roads. The total cost of the project will be Dh344 million, according to the report.
Firm bags water deal
Muscat: Hasan Juma Backer Trading & Contracting Company has bagged a prestigious project for the Omani Ministry of Housing, Electricity and Water.
The project envisages provision of a permanent supply of piped potable water to Bausher planned area in the Muscat governorate, a local report said.
The RO2 million ($5.19 million) project involves provision and laying of 6.35 km ductile iron transmission pipeline, 78.996 km of 100 mm 150 mm, 200 mm, 300 mm, 400 mm and 500 mm diameter asbestos cement distribution pipeline, construction of valve chambers, hydrants, anchor blocks and other pipeline ancillaries.
The project also involves construction of a 8,000 cu m reinforced concrete service reservoir and associated works at Bausher upper reservoir compound pumping station in the existing Bausher (Ghubrah North) reservoir compound and booster pump station.
Dealer to build four showrooms
Manama: Four new showrooms are to be built in Bahrain at Sitra for Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen and Jeep, car dealer Behbehani Brothers has announced.
There will also be a new after-sales facility, also in Sitra, with separate workshops for each of the brands.
Tenders are expected to be invited shorly and the project completed by early 2003. The multi-million dinar project's combined area is 30,000 sq m. The consultants are Dar Al Tasmeem.
