Bahrain is set to launch a tender for a BD2 billion ($5.3 billion) water and power upgrade.
The project will provide a daily power generation of 4,000 MW and water production of 90 million gallons, said Electricity and Water Undersecretary Abdulmajeed Al Awadhi.
The project will be awarded to a company from the private sector within six months. Bahrain will, then, buy water and electricity from this company for a period of 20 to 25 years, after which it will be in a position to totally or partially own the set-up.
