The Netherlands-based Van Oord ACZ has undertaken to complete Palm Island Phase 1 land reclamation project, Dubai Palm Developers announced.

A statement from the UAE developers added that Archirodon Construction (Overseas) Company of Greece will construct the breakwater for Crescent Island and associated reclamation.

The developers also said that since early August this year, the previous Malaysian contractor, Perkapalan Mesra Sdn Bhd of Sarawak, is no longer involved in the project.

The reclamation phase of the project is expected to be completed by August next year and will be followed by the building of the infrastructure which will take another year.
