Dubai to upgrade interchange
Dubai has approved a Dh43.3 million ($11.7 million) project to upgrade the Ras Al Khor Interchange at the Nadd Al Hammar Road junction in the emirate.
Dubai Municipality director-general Qassim Sultan said the project included the construction of a new interchange at the Nadd Al Hammar road, the widening of the Ras Al Khor Road from three to four lanes, and the construction of approximately 2 km of road to tie in with the existing road.
The project is to be completed in 390 days after contract award.
Sharjah to pave 50km of roads
Sharjah: Sharjah Municipality will launch a Dh45 million ($12.1 million) project to pave 50 km of roads in the Sharjah Industrial Area by the end of next year.
Municipality director general Ahmed Mohammed Fikri said the project was aimed at developing the infrastructure facilities and public services at the Sharjah Industrial Area that houses a huge number of local and international firms.
"The project comprises carrying out pavement work on various roads in the first six industrial areas in the emirate," said Fikri.
Corniche beautification gets nod
Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi has approved the designs for the second phase of the Corniche Road beautification project, it was reported.
The project, which seeks to ensure a free flow of traffic, will add more parking lots and modernise recreational areas along the road, a local report said.
The first phase was completed in February 1999.
UAE chalks out $177m project
Dubai: The UAE's Ministry of Public Works and Housing is to spend Dh650 million ($177 million) on a giant project to upgrade the road linking Dubai and Sharjah with Ras Al Khaimah.
The project will begin early next year, said Nadeem Hussein Ali, head of the ministry's department of roads and utilities.
He said the project comprised two phases, the upgrading of the Dubai-Sharjah road which will cost Dh350 million, to be followed by the improvement of the Sharjah-Ras Al Khaimah road at a cost of Dh300 million.
Hotel renovation set to start
Manama: Work is expected to begin shortly on a BD2 million ($5.3 million) room and restaurant refurbishment project at Bahrain's Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel. The renovation of the 246 rooms and suites precedes a major expansion set to begin next summer. Work is scheduled for completion within a year.
