Tarmac Quarry buys two Turbotracs

01 December 2001

Abu Dhabi-based Tarmac Quarry Products has purchased two Extec Turbotrac screening systems to be used alongside an existing machine bought in 1999 for operations throughout the UAE.

The two Turbotracs were purchased due to their proven suitability for the task at hand; and the need for a precision screening system that is capable of fully independent movement, according to their UK-based manufacturer Extec Screens and Crushers.

The Turbotrac comes with a high-frequency double-deck screen box designed specifically to produce quality product at high production rates with mobility derived from an integrated tracked undercarriage.

Tarmac Quarry operations in Dubai currently supplies three to four million tonnes of high-quality crushed natural sands and aggregates, mainly into the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain areas. The material is primarily used for readymix company products and road bases for road building companies.

The performance of the Turbotrac was vital as the new machines operate in tandem processing wadi gravels and sands, extracted from Wadi Saa near Buraimi in Oman.

The tandem operation is used to produce five gradings of material: 100-50mm, 50-20mm, 20-10mm, 10-5mm and 5-0mm. Output is in excess of 140 tonnes per hour.

The tracked nature of the screening system allows for the machines to be moved to the material site allowing for these high production rates to be maintained throughout the field of operation.

The Turbotrac has proved to be reliable in the hot and arid conditions of the UAE, which is said to have been a major factor in the decision to buy Extec.
