NCC Urban launches first project in region

NCC Urban Infrastructure, a subsidiary of of a leading Indian construction conglomerate Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited (NCCL), started work early last month on its Dh1.5 billion ($408.4 million) NCC Harmony at the Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech).

Narayana Raju Alluri, managing director, NCC Urban, said contracts for excavation, piling and shoring have been awarded to Dutch Foundation and Concrete Processing, though the main construction contracts were yet to be finalised.
The foundation work on the 2.3 million sq ft project – the company’s first project in the region – is being carried out at a cost of Dh60 million and is expected to be completed in six months.
The mixed-use freehold development will feature two towers – one residential and one hotel apartment – each having 32 floors.
The project is slated for completion by May 2010 and will be both sustainable and environmentally-friendly, besides also being equipped with a health club, spa and pool area of 53,000 sq ft to make it one of the biggest health facilities in Dubai till date.
Describing NCC Harmony as being among the first purpose-built projects to offer residents a luxurious lifestyle at an attractive financial package, he said the company was also eyeing some future iconic developments in Dubai to highlight its 30-year-old construction expertise.
The company is also planning to expand into other markets with an emphasis on large-scale infrastructure projects.
