Kirby Building Systems, a pre-engineered building (PEB) manufacturer, has opened a Dh100 million ($27.25 million) facility in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK).
This investment secures Kirby’s position as one of the world’s largest PEB manufacturers, says a spokesman for the company.
The 35,000 sq m greenfield factory will support the company’s growth initiatives in the Middle East, Africa and Asia through producing high-quality PEB buildings for commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational and other specialty applications, he adds.
Kirby is part of Kuwait-based Alghanim Industries, one of the Gulf’s largest privately-owned companies.
“The RAK facility is another key addition to our growing portfolio of manufacturing plants serving the construction sector,” says Omar Alghanim, CEO of Alghanim Group. “Ras Al Khaimah’s strong commercial infrastructure and excellent logistics connectivity with neighbouring emirates will enable us to better serve our customers in the UAE and regional markets.”
The new facility will initially produce 50,000 tonnes of steel buildings, a figure that is set to double in the near future. Kirby’s state-of-the-art facilities are spread throughout Kuwait, the UAE, and India, representing a total production capacity of 400,000 tonnes. In addition, Kirby is entering Vietnam to serve the growing markets of Southeast Asia and Australia.
“The new facility will be a major growth engine and allow us to cut down on delivery times and improve service for all of our customers in the UAE. We have an extensive international network covering 60 sales offices across six geographical regions, allowing us to maintain our wide international presence,” commented Praveen Tandon, group general manager of Kirby.
